Debra A. Liebowitz PT, DPT
Dr. Debra A. Liebowitz is a physical therapist who has been working in outpatient orthopedic and sports physical therapy for several years. She obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in Boston, Massachusetts. During her training, Debra had affiliations at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she was invited back to do her internship in the Outpatient Physical Therapy Department. She treated a variety of patients with orthopedic, and neurological diagnoses. After finishing her internship, Debra remained at the hospital working in acute care seeing post-operative vascular, cardiac and orthopedic patients; pulmonary (chest PT), oncological, and pre and postpartum patients. She then moved to New York City where she worked at Recovery Physical Therapy, until she decided to open Matrix Physical Therapy, LLC.
To remain on top of the current trends in this dynamic profession, Debra has taken a variety of continuing education courses including Functional Orthopedics I; Advanced Topics in Management and Treatment of Shoulder and Elbow Disorders; Articular Cartilage: Exercise Protection Strategies, Surgical and Non-surgical Treatments, and Postoperative Rehabilitation; Manual Therapy Integration of Neural, Muscular, and Articular Components in Cervical Spine Dysfunction; Fitness Golfer; and Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes.
Debra participated in research of the “Relationship between Item Measures on the Berg Balance Scale and Lower Extremity Impairments.” She did the platform presentation of this research at the 2002 Annual Massachusetts APTA Conference.
Debra is a member of the Orthopedic, Sports Medicine, Neurology and Private Practice sections of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
